Monetization

Real Racing 3 is free to download game and play. The in-game currencies are:

  • R$ (Racing Dollars): Used for buying cars, upgrades, servicing and customisation.
  • Gold (Premium Currency): Skipping tiers and tasks, buying exclusive cars, skipping wait times and upgrades at higher levels.
  • M$ (Motorsport Dollars): Purchasing and upgrading motorsport cars, repairs and services.

The game includes several in-app purchases for in-game currency (all 3), different offer bundles, cars and upgrades. Although the game quality is extremely good, several players criticise the reliance on microtransactions for better and faster cars.

Tips and Tricks

  • Break before taking turns, not during the turn.
  • Take wide entries in races to keep the speed high.
  • Don’t oversteer since it reduces car momentum and speed.
  • Prioritise engine and body upgrades, as they increase the overall performance of the car and the top speed.
  • Avoid unnecessary crashes during races to reduce wear and tear.
  • Use the service time of one car to take a break or race with another car in another event.
  • Complete daily races, weekly time trials and online events for extra currency and cars.
  • Cars such as Nissan Silvia S15, BMW M3 GT2, Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 have a good balance of PR and earning potential.
  • Don’t over-upgrade early, and don’t buy unnecessary car liveries.

Experts' Corner

Overview Image

The best choice of controls is with little or no assists. This provides better control over the car and enables faster speeds and turns. Elite players generally use:

  • Tilt B + Manual Braking
  • Traction Control: OFF
  • Steering Assist: OFF
  • Brake Assist: OFF or LOW

Always finish your session with the damaged car and then start its service. The best strategy is to first finish car races such as Speed Snap, Autocross and Elimination. Then, when the service counter is about to reach the red zone, participate in Cup races or the Endurance mode. This maximises the use of your car and saves unnecessary extra service time.

For every car, different upgrades are most effective. Use a PR calculator (found in RR3 fan communities) to determine the fewest upgrades needed. Prefer those upgrades that offer a higher increase in PR value per dollar or gold spent.

In the past, following recent updates, numerous players reported being unable to launch the game. Similar bugs have been reported to have caused poor track quality and even differences in starting positions during races. Some events have also been placed behind a paywall mistakenly by the developers. This had resulted in widespread criticism from the RR3 community, who felt that the game content was being unfairly monetised. These issues are often resolved. On platforms like Reddit, players can share experiences, seek assistance and discuss potential improvements in the game.
